Jim Pollard, Senior Pastor

Rev. Jim Pollard is a native Michigander. Raised in Livonia, Michigan and graduated from Eastern Michigan University, and then from Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. Jim accepted his first call to Linn Presbyterian Church in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin where he served for 11 years.

Jim loves all kinds of music. Before seminary, he directed choruses and sang in a comedy quartet where he traveled the United States and Canada. Although he doesn't sing much anymore, his radio is always on listening to some kind of music.

Jim is married to his wonderful wife, Debbie, of 28 years who is a nurse. They have three children. Lauren is married to Matt and they live in Lake Geneva; Jon is working in security; and Jeremy is a senior at Badger High School in Lake Geneva. Jeremy's plans are to attend Michigan State University for a degree in Veterinary Medicine specializing in large animals.

Toby Jones, Associate/Youth Pastor

Toby Jones grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and is still a die-hard Browns fan, despite decades of frustration. He has deep roots both in the church and in Northern Michigan. After graduating from DePauw University and Princeton Seminary, Toby worked in churches, taught English and coached several sports in prep schools, and even ran a shelter program for the homeless. Toby's passions include snowboarding, reading, tennis, bridge, and music. (Deep down, he wants to be a rock star.) He and his wife Molly, a history teacher at Harbor High School, are dedicated to the young people of this community, including their children Miles and Liza.

Kathy Bodzick, Christian Education Director

Kathy Bodzick is our Director of Christian Education. Born in Plymouth, Michigan, she moved to Harbor at age 13 and has been a member of this church every since. Educated at Northern Michigan and N.C.M.C., Kathy has served on our professional staff since 1991. 'The Church Lady', as Kathy is affectionately known around here, has continued to stretch herself over the years, completing training as a Stephen's Minister, a Christ-care Small Group leader, and a lay Christian educator. She and her husband, Ted, have two grown children, Chris and Becca.

Peter Sims, Music Ministries Director

Peter Sims has been an active church musician since his teenage years. A graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, Peter taught high school vocal music for 23 years. During that time, Peter was also a part-time music director for several churches and is delighted to be serving our church in a full-time capacity. Peter remains active as a professional soloist in opera and oratorio. When he's not making sure his house, car, and office are utterly spotless, Peter can be found enjoying the natural beauty of Northern Michigan of foot, on his boat, or on his porch with a good mystery novel.

Cynthia moved here with her husband, Art Schoolmaster, in 1986 from their hometown, Ann Arbor. There she was a Research Associate with the UM School of Epidemiology and the Highway Safety Research Institute. That career ended with the move north and eventually she ended up at First Pres. in 1990. She has many interests including, but not limited to: kayaking, bicycling, figure skating, Renaissance music (recorders), weaving, knitting, contra dancing, old time music (penny whistle and bodhran), birding, choreography/production. She enjoys the varied nature of her job here, which encompasses desktop publishing, database management, building management, and accounting, along with the day-to-day support work for staff and church members.
