The mission of the First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Springs has taught us that out of our relationship with God flow love, truth, hope and a hunger for justice and commitment to our neighbor, whether they are across the street, or around the world.

We have had a busy and exciting year as we continued to support worthy projects with volunteer and funding support, constantly expanding our reach and the impacts we make.

Among our many service projects included:

Basic Mission: Each year our church gives generously to Basic Mission. Our pledge of $13,000 is used to under-gird the mission budget of our presbytery, synod and the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Approximately 2/3 of this is used to support the Yukon Presbytery's Yupik mission, Presbyterian Point Camp, campus ministry within our presbytery and staff services.
The Synod of the Covenant (which receives 10%) offers mission and evangelism services to our expanded area and PC (USA) (the remaining 26%) supports a myriad of mission, evangelism and
educational services throughout the world.

Larry and Paula Funk's missionary work with Northern Chaplain Services, a ministry of compassion for those who are hurting at the local hospital and hospice, is self-supporting. Our congregation assists them through our mission budget.

Joy Offering: On Christmas Eve, our congregation gives generously to support minority colleges and retired ministers and missionaries in need.

One Great Hour of Sharing: This offering, taken on Palm Sunday, distributes money through PC(USA) throughout our country and the world to help the needy in many ways: to feed the hungry, to rebuild damaged communities, and to teach people how to best feed their own through agriculture, industry and education.

Habitat for Humanity: (Church Hammers) In partnership with this Christian housing ministry, we continue to act in strong faith and conscience to help reduce poverty and homelessness from our region by building houses in partnership with families in need.

Manna Project: Our church family remains faithful to the Manna Project Food Bank. Our youth and adults volunteer many hours each month to stock the shelves with food, and remain dedicated to this very valuable community service.
